Fuel Saving Tip: Slow Down
Aug 20th, 2017
There’s not much we can do about the price of gas in MN, but we can control – up to a point – how much we use. Our driving habits can dramatically affect our fuel economy. Read on for some fuel saving tips.
The first thing we can do is watch the go-pedal. Hard acceleration just sucks the gas. Gently leave stop lights and plan lane changes so you don’t need to floor it. That can save you hundreds of dollars a year in improved fuel economy.
Top fuel saving tip: go a little slower. Drivers who go more than 60 mph will see their fuel mileage drop dramatically. Leave early so you don’t need to rush to be on time. And cruise control is your friend – steady speeds use less gas.
Plan errands ahead, make fewer trips by combining errands around Corcoran, Rogers and Maple Grove. I confess, I can never start a project at home without making at least 3 trips to the hardware store. If I only planned ahead and made one trip I’d save gas and time.
The other thing is keeping your car’s engine in tune, checking the air filter and the tires properly inflated and make a difference too. And as we move towards colder temps this fall and winter gas mileage goes down again, so it pays to check..
At current gas prices, a lead-foot might as well be a gold foot.
Give us a call we can check the car to make sure it’s going to get the best mileage possible.
